Up for auction is this beautiful Herkimer Diamond 8 Crystal Cluster that measures approximately 66 mm X 71 mm X 27 mm This crystal weighs 237.5 carats . This beautiful cluster is mainly water clear. Pictures do no justice for this outstanding piece. It was collected in Middleville, N.Y . many years ago. I only sell true Herkimer Diamond Crystals . True Herkimer Diamond Crystals can only be found in Herkimer county ( & a few close ajoining counties ) in Upstate New York . T is a difference in quality and appearance. Don't be fooled by a look a like.
Every crystal and mineral specimen we sell or auction was personally dug and collected by a member of our family in the late 1950's through the late 1970's. If you wish to purchase multiple items, just let me know and I will combine them and ship them all at the same time. This will cut some of your shipping costs. Each of our crystals are packaged, numbered and pictured individually. The crystal in the picture is the crystal you will be purchasing not a look alike. AAA - Crystals of this quality are flawless to the naked eye. They are extremely rare and become even more so in larger sizes. AA - Crystals of this quality may be slightly flawed. T may be small attachment marks, inclusions, or fractures, which do not significantly take away from the overall clarity of the crystal. The flaws should not exceed more then 10% of the total crystal. Both termination points are present. A - Crystals of this quality are flawed. T may be attachment marks, inclusions, or fractures, which do not significantly take away from the overall clarity of the crystal. These flaws should not exceed more then twenty percent of the total crystal. Some very small amounts of anthraxolite may be present. This can be seen with the naked eye but will not take away from the clarity of the diamond at all. Some may have a very slight smokey appearance. Both termination points are present but may have small chips or attachment marks. B+ - Crystals of this quality may have flaws on up to 30% of the crystal. These flaws may be attachment marks, inclusions, or fractures. These will have at least one termination point. Overall clarity will be good but not super. T may be some slight cloudiness or they may be a bit smokey. Common Terms Courtesy of Andy Totten - Herki'Miners Place Anthraxolite Some crystals contain anthraxolite or petrified plant life. The anthraxolite resembles bits of black coal within the crystals. A high concentration of anthraxolite gives the crystals a lustrous black effect. The anthraxolite also may form into Phantom crystals when higher concentrations crystallize within while the Herkimers are forming, these are rare and beautiful. A Bridge Crystal is recognized as a smaller crystal which is part in and part out of a larger crystal. Almost always t will be striations w the two meet, rarely they may:1) Form seamlessly, in a Scepter type formation 2) One may completely form both points and be "wrapped" around by the other, as they formed, one "flowed" around the complete crystal rather then forming an interface. Either of these is a bit rare and a very nice addition to a collection. Color Veil is a healed fracture or fractures inside a crystal that refracts a brilliant spectrum of rainbow colors when light hits it. The value of a crystal increases greatly if the healed fracture cannot be seen by the naked eye. Drusy Herkimer quartz crystals are occasionally found as the lining of these pockets, often more beautiful to the beholder then many of the crystals in the pocket.
