RARE ALL ORIGINAL HERMAN MILLER CHARLES EAMES DESIGNED 1ST 1950 PRODUCTION DA X BASE WITH ZENITH "SALMON" ROPE EDGE FIBERGLASS ARM SHELL CHAIR IN MINTY CONDITION !!
This is a 100% original 1st mass production Armchair,a Zenith DAX designed by the great Charles Eames, manufactured byZenith Plastics, Gardena, California in 1950 and distibuted by Herman Miller, Zeeland, Michigan, A1 vintage condition, no breaks, no cracks, no chips, no replacement parts, absolutely pristine, the pictures tell it all. This rare first production shell is in minty condition and is an overall mellow peach/pink in color refered to as "Salmon", it has very bright yet subtle consistent light red hues throughout with brilliant vibrancy to the fibers. T are no chips, scratches, cracks or stains present, absolutely gorgeous, superfibrous, subtle, superb. The clearly visible rope edge runs the entire edge of the chair which is a rare detail found only in the very first year production. The rare checkerboard label decal is mostly intact with some surface wear and scratches but still crisp and clear in every authenticating detail. The X base is original excellent condition Black coated and shows very little signs of wear with all 4 original glides that show rub wear and minor cracking . The shock mounts are strong and supple and appear perfect with no bleed through to the shell. This item is used and vintage as described and is being sold as-is - all sales are final. Please ask questions before bidding, and don't bid if you don't intend to buy the item. The chair will be shipped with the shell and base disassembled to conform to shipping limitations, reassembly is simply with the original 4 phillips head screws as shown in the photos of the chair bottom. Item will ship domestically for a fee of $75, International shipping will run $125 to the designated countries. Insurance cost is included bet recent International shipping regulation changes have put certain insurance value limits that vary from country to country of which I can not amend or be liable for. All International bidders must also bear in mind and be responsible for the customs regulations of their respective country since I have no way of doing that on my end Payment must be made within 5 days of auction ending.
