You are purchasing the exact chair pictured. Swivel, tilt and spring tension adjustment all work fine. Excellent restoration work has been done on this classic chair -- clean and polished enough to display anywhere, yet retains some of the patina that makes it a wonderful vintage piece. Charles and Ray Eames developed the first Eames Executive Chairs for the lobby of the Time-Life Building in New York City. That is where the nickname “Time-Life” chair originated. In 1972, chess grand master Bobby Fischer specifically requested the Eames executive chair while he competed in the World Chess Championship in Reykjavik, Iceland. This was a historic, and much publicized, chess match (for those old enough to remember). Fischer said he could concentrate well in the chair. When opponent Boris Spaasky saw it, he refused to play until he got one, too. Get two and display them with a table and chess board for a wonderful conversation piece!
