Up for auction is a vintage ALL original 1st Year Production Eames Rope Edge ArmShell Rocker RAR. This was designed by Charles Eames andmanufactured by the Herman Miller Furniture Company and Zenith PlasticCo. This chair is 100% original early production Rope Edge Rocker Armchair on an original rocking base. The original shell is produced from fiberglass-reinforced plastic in beautiful yellow color. The shell is very clean, shows lots of fiber and still retains it's original luster. The shell has no breaks or cracks of any kind and is in excellent condition, near mint condition. The base has no re-welds or any other repairs of any kind and has the original black paint. The shell still has the full checker label as proof of it's authenticity. The rocking base has the early birch runners with no splits or breaks. The birch runners on this rocker are also the early "rounded edge" versions which are correct on this early model rather than the "hard edge" runners that was used on the later models. I have noticed that a few Eames rockers that were sold recently had the wrong runners with an early rope edge shell . The early wide shock mounts are in excellent condition with no "bleeding" through the seat at all and have NOT been reglued. The screws that secure the rocker, and the screws that secure the base to the chair, are all original. The shell is known for it's comfort and durability. This rocker is 100% correct in every way. The chair will be disassembled for shipping and shipped in 1 box (Domestic Shipping to lower 48). For International Shipping the runners will be taken off (and they are included) so the chair can fit in 1 box.
