This exquisite barometer was purchased on the Rue St. Honors in Paris at the flagship store for Hermes. It was a gift to me from the clients I was taking on a buying trip to the Paris flea market. It cost a fortune, and I remain clueless on why they gave it to me. I guess it looked like an antique. I bought it home and hung it on my wall and it has been there ever since. Never touched, and actually clueless on how it works. It does not go un noticed by guest who even talk about it at dinner parties . I am a visual person and will never truly appreciate the complexity of this masterpiece hand made by Hermes. At this location. They have many things done by the house that are not available any where else in the world . It is backed in fine black Hermes leather and the writing is in French . As a collector of Hermes, this would be a shining star... It predicts the weather , It could be used in your state room when traveling. It is extremely intelligent looking, and worthy of any decor. I have all the ash trays, and riding clothes and horse blankets , an English saddle, and jodhpurs and a pair of Hermes Riding Boots as well. Love my riding jacket in red.
