Very Rare Hermon MacNeil 1901 Pan-American Expo Gorham Bronze Medal & Case For your consideration we have a very rare 1901 Pan-American expo bronze medal. Medal was designed by Herman Mac Neil, and is signed "Hermon Mac Neil SC" on the lower center of buffalo side. It is also signed "Gorham Co Bronze" on edge of medal. Medal measures approximately 2 1/2" (63.5 mm). Condition of medal is very nice, has original aged patina, has not been cleaned or polished. Medal does have two slight indents to edge where it may have been bumped. I believe this medal was presented to "Dr. John R. Guerrant" as this name is cast into the medal below the buffalo. The medal is lighter in color than appears in photos. The first photo is very close to actual color. Also included is the rare original presentation case & paper. The case is in poor condition and could use some professional restoration but has done a good job protecting the medal over the last 110 years. There may be one piece missing to inside case that was glued to inside backing.The case measures 3 1/2" x 3 1/2". One of these medals recently sold on Ebay for $1750.00. It had no case and looked to have been polished. (Ebay item #140598080346). I am offering this one at no reserve, will let bidders determine value.
