An Iconic Image of Second World War Propaganda in the United States, this large format poster was published by the Office For Emergency Management in 1942.Approximately 28 by 40 inches. Original, Not A reproduction.Designed by American artist Glenn Grohe (1912-1956)With printing identification 1942-O-455330 of the U.S. Government Printing Office and the Division of Information, Office For Emergency Management at the lower corners. The menacing image of the enemy soldier peering over the horizon was intended to remind defense workers that enemy spies or saboteurs could be anyw, and workers should be careful. In practice, some reportedly thought that the title referred to factory supervisors watching the workers. Although the poster may not have reached its intended audience effectively, it is a wonderfully stylized image conveying the evil intentions of the other side, and it is one of the most memorable propaganda images of the war. Some claim that this image inspired the design of Darth Vader more than three decades later.Condition: Generally quite good, the poster has been folded and t is slight crimping/creasing wear around some of the fold points (see picture), one or two small closed tears at fold points (pictured), very slight toning at edge and rear of poster.
