7” Heymann Terrestrial World Globe (1885) Austro-Hungarian Empire (1868-1917), Congo State (1885), No Rhodesia (1895), No S/N. Dakota (1891), No Panama Canal (1906), Saint Petersburg (before 1914), Alaska already American (1867). All in German Language. 7” Diameter, 15” High. 12 coated paper gores over pasteboard sphere with 2 polar calottes, Globe attached to a fruitwood base in a warm blond finish with compass. Highly detailed as expected with Heymann globes. In very good used condition with age minor signs of wear. Minor soiling. Colors are vivid, details crisp. No loss of map. Base is in age appropriate condition. See all the pictures. About manufacturer : Ludwig Julius Heymann (active ca 1860-1903), publisher and world-maker, was published under the name Geographical Artistic Institute. Ludwig Julius Heymann globes in sizes 5, 8, 10, 15, 19, 25, 32 and 36 cm. The foreign language to some extent, all models were simple wooden frames, as well, distributed globes with metal supporting figures. Heymann 's longtime employee and designer of the segments was Prof. Dr. Henry Lange (1821-1893). Attention to detail by the globe maker is evident throughout the map. Colonists and their territories are each identified by rich individual coloring. Refined map-making skills highlight mountain ranges, ocean currents and rivers. In addition the Industrial Revolution is being documented, as railways, shipping routes (with travel days) and telegraph cables are identified. Heymann Globes are highly appreciated among collectors, as their models are some of the finest pieces ever produced, they displayed early on significant details such as the Great Wall of China and the up keep of explorations to the North and South Pole.
