Offered for auction is a rare vintage Heywood Wakefield Ashcraft "rattan" lounge chair. During World War II, shipments of rattan were halted. As a result Heywood began using New England ash feeling that steam bent wood was more attractive than rattan. The company used a wood burning method to achieve the look of rattan. The cushions are original barkcloth in a fun tropical print with leaves and flowers. The original cloth label is still attached to the frame. Please see my other auctions for another identical chair and matching table. These are a must have for the Heywood collector. Perfect origianls for your retro Florida, Hawaiian or Tiki themed room. Condition is excellent. No rips or tears to upholstery. The ash/rattan frame is excellent. All strapping is tight and complete. No breaks or cracks anyw Upholstery could benefit from a professional cleaning. T is a faint spot on the top of the seat and a faint stain on the bottom side of the cushion that should come clean.
