Selling with no reserve is this super oak secretary desk/bookcase combination also known as a side by side. Constructed of quartersawn or tiger oak, it has no wiggles or wobbles. Although only 3 shelves are shown, we do have a fourth one. The doors , drop lid and drawers work as they should. Lets move on to the pictures w I will describe it further. MEASUREMENTS: 57 3/4" tall, 16" deep and 41 1/2" wide. are some overall views. PLEASE NOTE: The chicken is not included in this auction!
's a view of the top half. This piece is most unusual as it has a door above the drop lid desk. Not all of these had such a door. Notice the nice Victorian carvings and the bow glass door on the bookcase side. The bow door has the original, very wavy glass. Look at the nicely figured tiger oak. What a nice grain pattern. 's a view inside the drop lid portion and the door above it. Great interior on the desk portion. Most of these desks have a plain interior but this one is super fancy. Thats a little drawer that pulls out in the center of the fitted interior. The drop lid will make a nice sturdy writing surface because it has two supports that hold it firmly in place when opened. Both the drop lid and the door above it open and close as they should. Nice and clean inside. 's a view from the side of the top door. Really dainty carving on this one. On the very top of the case, just above the door we just showed you t are some age cracks as shown. Nothing that affects the sturdiness of the piece. We didn't notice them until we were looking it over carefully for this listing. 's a view of the bottom half. The top drawer is curved or bowed outward giving it a great look. The top drawer has some dings along the very top of the drawer face. Hope you can see them in the photos. Rather insignificant but t and we describe our items accurately and honestly. That is the original brass. It has just been polished. If you look carefully you'll notice that the one handle on the left side of the bottom drawer is different than the others. This was most likely done so that the original brass would stay on the piece. Good decision in our opinion because it saved the original hardware. The handle only is different and not the backing plate. Doubt you would even notice had I not told you. It is a close match. 's a view inside the bow glass bookcase section. We do have 4 shelves but only 3 are shown. We had left it inside the house when we bought this piece but have since gone back and retrieved it. The shelves are adjustable and are original to the piece. We have included this picture in an attempt to show you the wavy original bow glass. Hope you can see it. It looks very pronounced in person. You'll certainly notice that wavy glass when you see it in person. And some final views. These side by sides are getting rather scarce so don't miss your chance to own one. It will sell to the highest bidder regardless of price. This piece has a wonderful patina that the camera didn't pick up. It looks way better in person. Certainly will not disappoint! This is a very nice example. Please read the shipping info at the bottom of this page. Don't forget to check my other auctions. We've got some nice oak pieces listed this week all selling with no reserve. Once again, the chicken is NOT included in this auction.
