ALL OF OUR AUCTIONS ARE PRIVATE DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING FAKE EMAILS SENT TO UNDERBIDDERS. Up for your bidding consideration is this masterpiece of Pacific Sculpture that is highly reminiscent of a sculpture by Henry Moore. From an old collection in New Zealand, this rare and possibly unique food pounder was most certainly ritually used by a high ranking suque member and measures 10 1/2" in height. Mounted on a custom museum base, it has remnants of coral encrustation indicating that it has spent considerable time submerged in a lagoon. Also, what makes this dynamic sculpture even more interesting is that it appears that this food pounder was ritually killed when it was cast into the sea due to an evident old break and chip. One of the most enigmatic stone food pounders from the Pacific we have ever seen, it should attract considerable interest worldwide and for you overseas buyers now is the time to take advantage of the weak US dollar. This piece is so important hopefully it ends up in a museum such as the Quai Branly or other world class institution. The provenance of this masterpiece of Tribal Sculpture will be given to the winning bidder upon request and it is guaranteed absolutely genuine. Very careful packing and shipping by DHL will be $45.00 in the U.S. or $85.00 foreign. All major credit cards accepted by fax with a signature. read more
