Native of Newport News ? You need to have this black & white movie (transferred to DVD) that was created by the Village Theater in roughly 1950 - 55. Hilton Village was home to JJ Lankes, William Styron & Scott Copes among others. We'd ride our bikes to the Village frequently to see movies or flirt with the girl in the ticket booth. Are the McCrakins still t ? I never knew this existed and was amazed when I watched it. I kept waiting to see my mom, dad or grandparents. Also, interesting was when my mom and aunt watched it commenting - t's so and so -- hey was that so and so ? It's a patriotic home town film w the narrator speaks of the contributions of local businesses, schools, church and civic organizations. Shown waiving to the camera are proprietors, community leaders, policemen, etc. Film opens at the busy intersection of Main Street and Warwick. Businesses, etc featured are: Mitchell's Florist, Baptist Church, NNFD with firetruck scurrying out on a call -- also shows firemen standing along side the truck waiving, Frank's Pizza, Ward's Service Station, Booth's Cleaners, Hilton Esso, Budlong PLumbing --shows their fleet parading down the road to patriotic music, Kidd's Tire Service, Coca Cola Bottling, Pompeii Tile Co, House Trailer Sales, Howard Johnson's with waitress taking order to a car, Grace Spencer, Junior WOmen's Club read more
