All of these carvings are made by hand. They are brought from the Gujarat/Ahmadabad are of western India. They were all found in a temple being renovated and these were discovered in the underground portion of the temple grounds in the late 70's. We are unsure of the age of these wooden carvings. You can see the markings from the tools used to carve these pieces. This particular piece measures 6"x8" approx. (THE PHOTO SHOWS A STICKER WITH MEASUREMENTS OF 6"X12", BUT IT IS INCORRECT.)I have sold many of the plaques on Ebay and have only 2 left of the smaller one like this...There are many other pieces to be sold, but these plaques are nearly gone. If you look at my other listings you will see many other of the same type depicting deities, and we suppose many of them were used in the area for household shrines and may have been used on the temple grounds. Some have slight wear but no broken pieces, maybe a nose or finger missing here and there, but I will sell none that don't look absolutely beautiful. All items must be shipped from NYC or our non-profit in Connecticut and cannot be arranged for pick-up. In my previous postings I mentioned we have so many pieces, and have had many inquiries as to when we would be posting items for sale again.
