About this sale... Thisis one of three sterling pieces that are being offered by FrancisAsbury United Methodist Church in Rockville, Maryland. The church needs to raise money, so this silver has been taken out of long time storage and is being sold. No one at the church knows how the church came into possession of these pieces, or the history behind them. I am selling the pieces for the church, as they do not have an Ebay account. ALL proceeds from this sale will go directly to the church. Please see my other items for the two related pieces of sterling. About this piece... This is a sterling silver bowl with beautiful raised flowers, leaves, and scrolls around the perimeter. The detail in the flowers is incredible. The bowl is almost 12 inches across at its widest point, with a base that is roughly 7 inches across. Height of the bowl is approximately 7 and 3/4 inches. The bowl weighs about 56 ounces. The bowl has a beautiful patina from years of storage. The sides of the bowl are made up of six panels, four of which are engraved. The front panel is engraved with the words " IN MEMORIAM " over the large initials " MSJ ". Moving clockwise, the next panel is engraved with " ONE BAPTISM ", followed by a blank panel.
