This auction is for a Stunning ATLAS Of MASSACHUSETTS. It begins with the Atlas being rolled up in its original parchment with handle. As you open the piece it starts with a PREFACE that describes :"It is now more than ten years since we determined to publish an Atlas of Massachusetts" More information is given then it has a partial list of the more than 100 engineers and surveyors whose dedication and hard work put together this atlas. The next page has The Massachusetts Atlas Index whcih lists thousands of points of interests and corresponfing numbers. From here it begins the Atlas plates and cities. There are 50 Individual PAGES of plates and cities. Each page/plate is approx 27" by 20" and when this entire Atlas is spread out it reaches an incredible 56" by 20". I will list each page/plate in the order that they appear in this collection. When I list the plates, I will give some/not all of the cities in that particular plate. The Atlas itself is in very good condition with some rips and tears to the outside portion of the pages which decreases as you get further into the Atlas. By the time you reach #9. City of Lowell, the pages are free of rips/tears. Most of the pages throughout the Atlas are white without water damage or writing with the best pages further in to the Atlas.
