ANTIQUE PRESSED HISTORICAL AMERICAN GLASS GARFIELD MEMORIAL PLATE c1880s I SHIP WORLDWIDE Over the next few weeks I will be listing quite a few pieces of early American blown and pressed glass from a collecter - dealer who recently passed away. Included in the collection are early whale oil lamps, bar bottles, early patterned flint glass and some early stoneware and ceramics. Please note that most of the images in this posting appear grayish because they were shot using diffused light so that you can see the detail of the pattern better. Offered in this sale is an American pressed glass commemorative GARFIELD MEMORIAL plate that dates to the 1880s. It was made to commemorate the assassination of James Garfield who was shot on July 2, 1881 and later died on September 19, 1881. It measures 10" in diameter. The border features a laurel wreath set against a lacy glass like stippled background. Just above the head of Garfield t are tiny embossed letters that read PATd APPLIED FOR. The condition is very good. Other than some light surface scratches t are no other chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines or evidence of grinding. Please feel free to email with any questions.
