English, early 20th century. A group of nine historical transfer-decorated plates in blue, having central reserves of American interest surrounded by a border of fruits and flowers, each titled and marked STAFFORDSHIRE / ENGLAND / R & M Co, the latter being an importer's mark for Rowland & Marsellus Company of New York; dia. of each 9.75 in.The titles include Ride of Paul Revere April 18th, 1775., Molly Pitcher at Battle of Monmouth June 28th, 1778., Battle of Bunker Hill June 17th 1775., Washingtons Prayer at Valley Forge, 1777, The Retreat of the British from Concord. April 19th, 1775., Faneuil Hall. Boston from the Harbor, Independence Hall, Phila., PA. Where the Declaration of Independence was Signed July 4th, 1776, Commodore Paul Jones Capturing the Serapis September 23rd, 1779, and Don't Give Up the Ship Death of Capt. Lawrence June 1st 1813.Condition:Some crazing and glaze imperfections. Some chips and cracks.
