The book is 145 years old and printed before the end of the Civil War, that is why it is Vol. 1 If you w to live in those days this is the book that a person would have bought to see and hear about the progress of the War. This book was published while the action of the war was still in mode. The pages are aged by the years that have passed, t is not molding of the book, just discoloration of pages. If you look at the exterior you will see that someone tried to keep the book up taping it ect. not for estetic value but to read.
