You are bidding on a very rare 1 Sterling Silver Medal from the Limited Edition SetMedallic History of Medicine "Nightingale - Founder of Modern Nursing"Issued by Franklin Mint Each Medal weights nearly 1oz 27 grams 39mm DiameterFull Sterling Silver Hallmarked The edge of each medal is hallmarked STERLING Silver. Each medal also bears the set number 1128 on the rim. The medal is over 40 Years old in uncirculated good condition. This beautiful set of 60 sterling silver medals is listed in Krause Publications 1981 Guidebook Of Franklin Mint Issues as made for the Medical Heritage Society in a mintage of just 1,386 sets in sterling silver! Due to the silver melts of yesteryear, possibly less than half of these sets exist today! It was issued as a set by subscription to members of The Medical Heritage Society with the individual coins sent one per month to subscribers from 1969 into 1972.
