Collation: [frontis] 382pp. + map; 4 1/8”x 7 1/2” sexodecimo; custom bound gilt decorated half green morocco leather hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Rebound ex-library from Plymouth, Mass. (c.1916, unidentified bindery, rebound after deaccession). Square, tight, bright and clean in & out, light rubbing to a few edges, private armorial bookplate of Asa P. French to front paste down, paper remnants to front free end paper, 1921 clipping mounted to newer flyleaf with pencil annotations and offsetting to front free end paper verso, a few instances of light foxing, map is clean and untorn, no missing or loose pages, no page tears, no unstated markings. Description: Beautifully rebound complete First Edition of Thacher's history, once owned by Massachusetts U.S. attorney Asa P. French , who likely commissioned the rebinding and adorned it with his triple boar's head armorial bookplate, contains Pendleton's map and frontispiece engraving.
