1849 HISTORY OF NEW YORK WITH FOLDOUT ANTIQUE MAPS -- VOLUME II - 8 STEEL ENGRAVINGS AND 8 MAPS WITH 5 BEING LARGE FOLDOUT MAPS -- TREATISES ON STEAMBOAT DEVELOPMENT IN NEW YORK The Documentary History of the State of New York , arranged under the direction of the Honorable Christopher Morgan, Secretary of the State of New York. Volume II. by E.B. O'Callaghan, M.D. Published by Weed, Parsons, & Co., Public Printers, Albany, NY, 1849. First Edition. The book is bound in decorative brown cloth with tooled front and back covers and copper gilt titling and decorations on the spine. The binding was reinforced many years ago by 2 thick pieces of Morocco leather, one at the top and one at the bottom of the spine that neatly overlap to the top and bottom of the covers. T is bumping to the corners and minor superficial splits in the spine cloth which have been repaired. T is also some minor superficial splits w the spine meets the front and back covers which have been well repaired (see photos). The covers are firmly attached and the hinges work very well. The book measures 9 ½” tall x 6-1/2” wide x 3-1/2 inches tall. T are 1211 mostly immaculate, crisp, cream pages which have aged to a light ivory color.
