This is Sue. She was carved from basswood by me back in 2011. I cannot call my dolls "Hitty dolls" since they look nothing like Hitty, but they are Hitty sized (6.5 inches). Each of my dolls is different and unique, there are never two that look alike, usually not even similar except in size and dress style. Sue is wearing a dress made by hand, by me, from the sleeve of one of my father's old shirts, soft chambray blue with a pink and blue flower trim. Her pantaloons and petticoat are trimmed with the same lace. Sue is jointed at the shoulders and hips with elastic so she is easy to dress. I purposely make my dolls thin at the waist so they can wear gathered skirts and still be slender. She is wearing painted on white knee socks and sturdy painted brown boots. She has a sweet smile and has been my companion in the sewing room for the past few years with a few of my other dolls that just didn't want to go away. But, I realize I cannot keep them all, I enjoy making them but have to send them out to find homes of their own. I hope Sue can find a home with a doll collector out there, she would make a lovely travel doll for someone.
