HMCS COWICHAN - 1940 CANADIAN SHIPBUILDERS SILVER PLAQUE -MINESWEEPER D DAY HERO

HMCS COWICHAN J146 was tasked with mine clearance and swept and destroyed 26 mines prior to American forces landing on Omaha Beach, Normandy landings in WW 2.
This plaque looks and is tarnished like silver but I cannot see any hall marks.
I understand the plaque was originally hung on a chain which was around the neck of a bottle of champagne/wine or wartime beer that was used to toast the launch of this ship.
Very nicely hand engraved with all details.
3 x 1 1/2 inches
Would look nice cleaned but have left that pleasure for the new owner.
A rare item
