HO Fleischmann German Federal Railways (DB) 0-8-0 Multi-Purpose Tender Steam Locomotive, Class 55 This listing is for an exceptional Fleischmann Class 55, 0-8-0, Multi-Purpose Tender Steam Locomotive, Fleischmann Part Number 4145. This good-looking locomotive is in the livery color for the German Federal Railways (DB) with the road number 55 2781. It is DC Analog not DCC ready. About 5300 of these locomotives were built and they had a maximum speed of 55 km/h and were used to pull both goods (freight) and passenger trains. This Class was given the nickname “The Black Elephant”. This model was manufactured in the 1980’s and is a Fleischmann Super-Detailed Locomotive that is modeled in full detail with prototype livery and lettering, prototypical “daylight” under the boiler and all fittings are faithfully reproduced, to include boilerhead fittings, inset cab windows and a fully working Heusinger valve gear. It even features triple headlights in the front and three dummy headlights in the rear. As the photos show, the paint and printing are excellent and all details are intact.
