HO scale 2-8-8-2 large articulated steam locomotive and tender made by Rivarossi in Italy. This is a plastic model that is painted black with gold lettering (PENNSYLVANIA) and numerals (2197). Just ahead of the smoke stack t is supposed to be 'cover' that hides a screw that helps attach the boiler to the chassis-the screw is t but the cover is missing. The rest of the boiler details appear to be included and intact: large pilot deck and railings, working headlight, '2197' smoke box numberplate, stack, 4 domes, generator, 4 poppets, bell, wire handrails and stanchions on both sides, wire handrail over the boiler front, pilot truck, trailing truck, drawbar and separate electrical wire connector to the tender, front coupler wire lift bar and front dummy coupler, all 16 drivers, rods, valve gear and screws. The tender looks complete and the details are: all 4 corner steps, fore and aft corner wire handgrabs, drawbar pin, rear metal ladder, both plastic 3-axle truck frames and metal wheelsets with electrical pick-up wipers and the brakeman's 'doghouse'. T is some slight corrosion on 3 of the 4 hand grabs. The coupler has been converted to a Kadee #5 body mount type. The loco and tender have been bench run and the loco runs with some hesitation. This item has been used but t is no evidence of abuse, nor are t any scratches, dings or warps. read more
