HO Roco Trans Euro Express (TEE) Car Add-On Consist of 3 #04070A This listing is for a stunning set of add-on cars for the Roco TEE VT11.5 (VT 601) express train which is sold as Roco item 04183A that contains two TEE locomotives and 2 passenger cars. The item listed here is Roco item 04070A and does NOT contain the TEE locomotives: it contains 3 add-on coaches. The German Federal Railways (Deutsche Bundesbahn) placed the first TEE trains sets in service in 1957. The train sets had one streamlined diesel locomotive at each end. These special trains were used for high-speed service inside of Germany and internationally to Austria , Belgium , France , the Netherlands and Switzerland . They reached speeds of 160 km/hour (100 miles per hour). By 1980 they were taken out of service except for the “Alpen-See-Express” (Alpine Lake Express) that ran from Hamburg and Dortmund to destinations in southern Germany and in Austria . This service ended in 1988. As the photos show, this consist contains 3 passenger cars in the dark red and cream colors of the Trans Euro Express service. The cars are in new condition. Their paint is excellent and lettering for the data on the cars is crisp and legible. The only lettering on the cars is the data on the black skirting at the bottom of the car sides.
