If you are interested in any of these turntable lengths and styles in any scale (N, TT, S, G, etc) please let me know. I have just added the Walt & Howard's 50' HO standard gauge gallows turntable kit to my product line. This is a standard gauge width "H" style gallows turntable. This is loosely based on 1) the out-of-production 1970 era Mil Scale Turntable and 2) the Silverton Railroad's Corkscrew Gulch turntable (built to the standard D&RGW 50' turntable plan). This kit would not be for novices but is not a craftsman kit. If novice = 1 and craftsman = 5, I would rate this as a 4 skill level. I would adjust the skill level to 3 if flex/sectional track is used on the turntablesThis kit does NOT include any rail or electrical pickup hardware. Several different electrical pickup methods are discussed. Since the builder may want to place different gauges or multiple gauges or rail sizes on the turntable, I do not include the rail in the kit. The track may be for HO, HOn3 or HOn30 or be of multiple gauges.Sectional or flex track may also be used instead of adding rail and gauging it yourself.Recommended tools include a drill bit, pin vise or drill, wood glue, Walthers Goo, three (3) 3-point track gauges, rail, stain or paint, a fixture to hold the wood parts square while the glue sets, and emery (sand) paper or files. I have altered the instructions for the 65' to explain how to convert the 65' to the shorter table lengths. Review by a builder of the turntable: ============================ I’d be happy to post a note on TT construction.Here is what I would write: “ Walt and Howard's 65ft. Turntable This is a well designed kit. It consists of clear, straight grained Basswood precut. A detailed parts listing identifies the parts and a photograph indicates the location of the various parts. Spend a little time considering power options prior to assembly. The kit assembles quickly from the instructions provided. I suggest distressing, staining and weathering all parts prior to assembly. Once this is accomplished, your Turntable will practically fall together. One can hand lay the bridge track or use a section of 'flextrack'. I chose code 100 hand laid.. Be judicious in placing the part "L", the Base Plate. This governs the alignment of the track end-to-end. I chose to build a fixture which allowed me to rotate the Bridge prior to permanently gluing part "L" to the bridge. One can then trim the rail overhang to perfectly mate to the incoming tracks.
