From an estate sale, a framed wood cut print ‘Sazai-do of the 500 Rakanji Temple’ from the ‘Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji’ by Hokusai Katsushika . The wood cut print was reproduced by Takamizawa Ukiyoe Kenkyusho (1933-1988). This print was produced with the utmost care and great attention to detail, masterfully reproducing color, line work and even woodgrain detail. Takamizawa Ukiyoe Kenkyusho’s 36 Fuji prints were a fantastic achievement and were released to great acclaim. They are considered to be the finest reprints of Hokusai's series ever done. Today, these prints are valuable and highly sought after by collectors.I believe the print was purchased and framed in Japan and is in its original Japanese black wood frame under glass. The frame measures approx. 22" x 17". The print within the matting measures 15” x 10”. This print comes with original matting, frame and backing which includes the original documentation.
