Holy Bible, Including the Old Testament and the New, Translated Out of the Original Tongues, etc. New York: American Bible Society, 1861. Thick heavily designed and embossed pocket style Bible with working brass clasp and beautiful brass design. Pages lightly browned yet tight and clean. All pages present, , hinges lightly split, mostly in front; for the most part book is a great collectible find. Gilt pp edges, slightly soiled, some wear on covers and spine cover, which has moderate wear to extremities. Former owner inscription on front EP. These were often carried by Civil War soldiers during the war, who knows what history this copy holds...? This book is in solid condition and is a super rare version that is seldom seen with this intricate designing and working clasp.
