Nice blue & white transfer ware 9-1/4" commemorative plate. The back reads: Pleasant View, Concord, N. H. Home of Rev. Mary Baker Eddy, Founder of Christian Science Other marks: " Sole Importers " is written on the top, outside of the sound seal. Inside the seal is an image of a Lion holding a globe (?) with the words " Jones Jacketer (?) & Stratton Co. Boston ". All of these marks are blurry so I maybe off a character of two, sorry. Additionally it reads: " Made for J. M. Sterwart & Sons, Co. Concord, N.H ." and " Wedgewood Etruria England ". T is a letter " J" (ususually stands for the year made) and two embossed marks. Only one is legible: "N, F N D. Overall condition of this plate is good but fragile. T are no chips on the rim, front or back. However, t is a hairline crack radiating from the center towards the rim at approx. 9 o'clock if viewing from the front. Its more pronounced on the back. If the rim is tapped, a dull thud heard, the bane of pottery lovers! If I was keeping this plate, I would seep some pottery glue into the crack from the back and once dried, hung on the wall in a plate hanger for safety. This is still a nice piece with historic value. But it is sold in AS IS CONDITION . A bid indicates your awareness & acceptance of this term. I ship US Postal Service and require delivery confirmation and insurance.
