I will be listing a very special collection of Postcards and Photographs over the next few months. All subjects, rare RPPC's and Many New Jersey items... This auction is for an interesting PANORAMIC postcard view of Hong Kong... Condition : Used with a 5 cent stamp intact, I cannot make out the date in the cancel... In regards to the fold lines - both fold lines are very worn - I will not sugar coat their condition - One a scale of 1 - 10 ( 10 being the best) the fold lines are a 5 Otherwise, visible edge wear, some corner wear, some tiny marks and dings... Keep in mind that this gorgeous card travelled 1/2 way around the world to get .. NOTE - the hand written message was penned by H J POWELL - U.S.S. Elcano " Elcano (PG-38) was built of iron in 1885 in Spain; captured by the Army during the Battle of Manila Bay 1 May 1898; transferred to the Navy 9 November 1899; outfitted for naval use at Cavite, and commissioned 20 November 1902, Lieutenant Commander A. G. Winterhalter in command. She was reclassified PG-38 on 17 July 1920.Sailing from Manila 26 December 1902, Elcano with two other Spanish war prizes, Villalobos and Pompey, inaugurated the Yangtze River Patrol. Based on Shanghai from February 1903 , their mission was to protect American citizens and property, and promote friendly relations with the Chinese. On 20 October 1907, Elcano returned to Cavite and was placed out of commission 1 November 1907. " ***** You may combine postcard purchases for one week - Sunday through Friday...
