Chaveyo Katsina Hopi Giant Kachina or Ogre Father This doll is being sold with NO RESERVE! This old style kachina doll stands 9" tall, including about two inches of feathers. It is made entirely from cotton wood root. It's signed "OH" and was carved by Hopi artist Orlan Honyumptewa. The head is decorated with feathers and corn husk. The loin cloth and cape are fashioned from leather. This doll is painted with mineral paints in very nice earth tones. He can stand, or be displayed hanging. When the Have Kachinas appear at the Hopi Villages he assumes the roll of disciplinarian or sergeant at arms. His cantankerous demeanor puts fear into any Hopi present who may have strayed in his conduct. Orlan Honyumptewa is well known as an accomplished carver of the old style kachina dolls. This Chaveyo's presence in someone's home or office just might have the power to set someone along the straight and narrow. Shipping will be via US Postal Service unless buyer requests otherwise, and will be for a flat rate of $12.00 if shipped to the continental United States. All other locations may email seller for shipping estimate, but will be charged actual shipping costs plus $2.00 packaging fee and any customs fees or duty will be passed along. Good luck bidding!
