This is a small signed late 1960s or older Pottery Bowl created by a Hopi Indian from the Hopi Mesas of Northeast, Arizona. Signed : The bottom of this bowl is signed "R. Talashie" (If anyone knows about this potter, I would love to hear from you! Please contact: ) When my father was a Park Ranger in the National Park Service, he was stationed for a period of time at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area/Lake Powell in N.E. Arizona, near the Hopi Indian Reservation. In the mid- to late-1960s, he and my mother visited the Hopi Mesa Villages many times and acquired a number of pieces of Hopi pottery, as well as kachina dolls and baskets. This bowl is one of those items. I t is at least 40 years old, but could be older. I am now offering the bowl and other Hopi items for sale. (For 2 other Hopi bowls, see eBay item numbers 190107751066 and 190107759256 .) Size : SMALL -- approx. 2 1/2 inches outside diameter at widest point x 1 3/8 inches high. Condition : The bowl is in nice condition, with no breaks or cracks. The design has irregularities typical of hand-pained pottery, and they are permanently baked into the bowl. It really is a nice, cute, unusual little Hopi bowl. This is an excellent, authentic example of Hopi pottery that came directly from the Hopi Mesas of Arizona at least 40 years ago.
