Presented today is this beautiful Hopi Kachina doll, depicting Angwusnosomtaki, the beloved Crow Mother, by the young and very talented Jacob Cook. Standing 7 inches tall, this figure has all the meticulous detail of a doll 3 times it's size. But that detail is beautifully understated, not glitzy or gaudy. Jacob's work is always sensitive and respectful, and he most enjoys carving the feminine Kachina forms. He has brought the Crow Mother, in this example, very close to perfection. Since his return to the Reservation, his work has become far more patient and introspective.
