T he Merchant's Crime, A Novel . By Horatio Alger, Jr. Reprinting of Alger's Ralph Raymond's Heir, originally issued as a serialization in Gleason's Literary Companion in 1869 under the pseudonym of Arthur Hamilton. Also issued as a pamphlet that same year. This pamphlet has never been seen. Then came the first printing, abbreviated, under Alger's name which appeared in three issues of the Leisure Hour Library , published by F. M. Lupton---No. 201, 1888; No. 76, 1896, and No. 281, 1900. The first edition paperback was issued by Lupton in 1892. First printing's under Alger's name, with all three numbers, for sale here. I am unaware of anyone holding the three Leisure Hour Library printings, 1888, 1896, 1900. A very complex publishing history! VG-. Free postage.
