Hornby O Gauge Clockwork Tinplate No2 Special Tank Loco 2271 Great Western The Locomotive is one of the later pre war No2 Special Tank locos, I would say no earlier than 1935, dated using information in "The Hornby Gauge 0 System" by Chris and Julie Graebe. It is very straight and complete, the paintwork is original and in fairly good order; It is not sparkling brand new but it's certainly quite tidy for its age. The wheels are all in good condition, they run true and the coupling rods are in good order. The clockwork mechanism has been left totally unwound and it has been on static display since my father bought it... All I have done is given it a couple of winds of the key to check that everything is working as it should, which it does, very smoothly. The mechanism runs smoothly and both the control rods work as they should. The control rods are not original but they look ok and work perfectly adequately. The hook is broken from the rear automatic coupling but the loop is still there so it can be coupled to something with a hook. The key provided with it is not original, it is a new clock key, but it is the right size. I will be happy to try to answer, or get answers to any questions you may have, but please don't leave it until the last minute as I might have to do some research.
