Hornby R2696 Class 101 2 car DMU 101692 in Scotrail SPT livery, DCC ready The new Hornby Class 101 DMU, using Lima tooling, was issued in a variety of liveries from about 2007/8 on, replacing the old Class 101 Tri-ang Hornby version which had been dropped some years previously. I believe that this SPT (Strathcldye Partnership for Transport) Class 101 was produced in about 2008 - but I could be wrong.......This example came from a very large collection, the previous owner being a young person with a compulsion to glue 'new' card-based decals to virtually every loco he owned....Fortunately in this case the 're-decalling' applied only to the central SPT logo on the side of each car - everything else on this lovely set was, thankfully, untouched. I have removed the decals but adhesive residue remains (see below)....The 2 car unit comprises a power car (53253) and a dummy car (53170), both with interior detail. R2696 is no longer in production. Condition In addition to studying the photo, please note the following points...... the DMU set runs beautifully in both directions as mentioned above, the large SPT logo centrally located on the side of each car has had a new 'logo' glued over it. I have removed the new card-based logos (rub with wetted cotton bud) but have stopped short of removing all the adhesive residue, which remains ( photo 3 is representative of the 'stain' left atop the logo) on the dummy car the top section of exhaust pipe above the right-hand silencer is missing (see photo 4) apart from a scratch on the dummy car across one drivers door and adjacent angled decal, there are no other marks of note. I still think the overall condition is bordering on very good, at the very least. all buffers and couplings are present and correct.
