Up for auction is a superbly carved HORNED TOAD fetish by the well known and sought after Zuni Pueblo artisan Hudson Sandy . This little guy measures about 5/8 inches high at the highest point and is about 1&3/8 inches wide and 1&5/8 inches long from nose to tip of his tail. It is carved from a beautiful piece of picasso marble and has beautiful inlaid turquoise eyes. This guy looks so real! as if he just crawled out of the desert!! The artist has signed this piece on the bottom: "H. Sandy", "Zuni". This is a Native American hand-carved item and comes from the Zuni Pueblo in northern New Mexico. In Zuni tradition, each animal is believed to have innt powers or qualities that may aid the owner of a fetish carved in the image of that animal.
