Malachite Stone Hand Carved Animal Horse Rock The material came from the Katanga Mine area in the Congo, Africa. Malachite is a copper carbonate. It has a hardness between 3.5 and 4. It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system, and most often forms botryoidal, fibrous, or stalagmitic masses. This material is found in the oxidation zone of major copper deposits. This stone's name is from the Greek, malache, - "mallow" in reference to its green leaf color. This beautiful horse is laying down. It is 3.25 inches long by .75 inch wide and 1.75 inch tall.
