up for auction Fresh from an Estate of the Original Decendant's of the Owners of the House of Seven Gables. This stand was originally in the House of the Seven Gables in Salem, Mass. and was brought down to Marietta, Ga when the family relocated over 40 years ago. It is a Hepplewhite 1 Board Top Pine Stand with tapered legs and 1 drawer and made during the late 1700s to early 1800s. The underside of the drawer is the most significant part of this stand, w it's provenance is incised in the original owners hand. It states "Elizabeth Cats Upton(Mrs Henry Orlando Upton), Great Grandmother Upton, House of 7 Gables, Salem, Mass. 1859, Turner St. ". The House of the 7 Gables is Historic and World Famous Mansion and on the National Registry of Historic Places. It is the Oldest Wooden Structure in the USA. It was made famous by the author Nathaniel Hawthorne from his book by the same name. This mysterious house and the Salem, Mass. Area is well documented and found to be one of the most interesting part of our US History. This stand measures 29" high, 19" wide, and 14 1/2" deep.
