RARE AND AUTHENTIC 1920's HUBLEY CAST IRON LEFT FACING BROWN AND WHITE BRINDLE BOSTON TERRIER BULLDOG BULL DOG DOOR STOP DOORSTOP !! This is the Scarcely Found and Highly Sought After HUBLEY Manufacturing Company, Lancaster, PA, LEFT FACING Boston Terrier in the BRINDLE Brown and White ORIGINAL PAINT . It is pictured in John and Nancy Smith's "The Doorstop Book" (see last photo below), and also in Baker and Hiller's "Boston Terrier Collectibles". It measures 10" tall and 8 3/4" long. Most cast iron Boston Terrier Doorstops of the 1920s-1930s were made facing to the right, but a few companies put out a left facing version. Hubley's is the most recognizable, with its unique Brindle or brown and white coloration, instead of the usual black and white. This Hubley dog is in very good vintage condition, with most of its hand air-brushed original brown and white paint. (Yes, that is snow in the background. We had an early dusting in the Colorado Rockies!) T is crazing on the dog, and some small areas of rust, mostly on the feet. But it still has the alert, watchful expression that Hubley put on its face and the patina is wonderful! Other than normal 80+ year old paint aging, t is no damage to the cast iron. The flathead screw, though exposed, has never been removed and the seams are tight. This antique dog weighs approximately 7 pounds. read more
