Here is a beautiful Hudson's Bay 6 "Point" blanket. It measures approx. 98" x 93". It also comes with the original box. This blanket was recently professionally dry cleaned and is ready to be used. It still has a nice loft and is not matted down. It does have 2 very small stains at the very edge that are noted in the 6th photo. In the 5th photo is a thin spot, there are a few more but so small you almost don't even notice them. There are no holes, no rips, no tears, and no repairs. It is in very good+ used condition. Interesting Facts About Hudson's Bay Point Blankets No manufactured products have ever played a more intimate role in the pioneer growth, stirring adventure, and glamorous history of any region, than have Hudson's Bay "Point" Blankets in the great Canadian Northwest. These blankets, and blanket coats, are almost imperishable. Hudson's Bay "Point" Blankets have carried the name and high reputation of a great company the world over - in fact, wherever there is chill in the air. Originally introduced for trade with the natives, the first recorded order for "Point" Blankets mentions December 22, 1779. In those days Indians traded furs for goods. Short indigo lines called "Points" meant prices. Thus 3 1/2 "Points" meant three large and one small beaver skins. Four "Points" meant four beavers. Today, "Points" indicate sizes. 3 1/2 "Point" Blankets measure 60 x 86 inches and weigh 10 pounds per pair. Four "Point" Blankets measure 72 x 90 inches and weigh 12 pounds per pair. Hudson's Bay "Point" Blankets are standard equipment for most exploration parties. They were twice used by Admiral Byrd in the Antarctic ; the last three Mount Everest expeditions carried them and Colonel Lindbergh and Mrs. Lindbergh fly in coats made from these famous blankets. One owner reports using a blanket which was salvaged fifty years ago from a wreck submerged in Lake Superior. Many families are currently using blankets purchased fifty and sixty years ago from Hudson's Bay Post Stores.
