THIS VINTAGE RING IS FROM THE ERA OF IN YOUR FACE BIG, BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL (which as you know, is the style again today!) That huge center stone goes right off the chart on my mm to carats list. It measures 24mm x 18mm, which is over 20 carats. The first photo shows two little dots in the stone, but pay no attention to them--I photographed it before it was totally dry after cleaning--those are just two drops of water. The setting is very ornate. It has rope-twisting prongs, a TON of them, that create the mounting. They rise from the double cut-out shank to the scalloped edging and the prongs that hold in this very large, beautiful translucent lemon citrine stone. The stone itself is very much like the color that David Yurman sports in his fabulous lemon citrine ring bordered with diamonds--just the right combo of yellow and green in this stone. It is an amazingly clean stone for the size--must have been hand-picked, and it really looks like the mount was custom-made. It is clearly stamped 14K on the inside of the band, but the weird thing is that this huge stone is placed upon a band that's only sized to 4.75. A lady with very long, thin fingers wore this, I can imagine. Obviously, it looks very strange on my pinkie, but I had to show it to you on a real finger. Of course, this ring can be sized easily by a competent jeweler. The ring measures 1 1/8" long by 7/8" wide, and it weighs 16.1 grams. Quite a bit of that weight is the stone, but the gold is not cheesy, either. The ring is nice and solid and REALLY MAKES A STATEMENT! T IS NO RESERVE ON THIS AUCTION!!
