Description :For auction is a fine vintage 45 star American flag. The flag is huge -- the first photo shows it hanging in front of a single-car garage as a size comparison. It's made of a coarse weave fabric, maybe be a light wool? The stripes are sewn together and the stars are sewn on, it's not printed. It has metal grommets and corner reinforcements. It is printed STANDARD 8 x 12 on the edge banding and there is a hand-written note that reads D.A.R. Schenectada. There are little brass rings sewn onto the top edge, I imagine these were used to hang it on a wall. The condition is generally good, there are scattered holes and some mild staining on some of the stars. It is structurally sound and the colors are bright and even. It measures 8 feet by 12 feet and weighs a bit over three pounds. The 45-Star Flag: This Flag became the Official United States Flag on July 4th, 1896. A star was added for the admission of Utah on January 4th, 1896, and was to last for 12 years. The Presidents to serve under this flag were Grover Cleveland (1893-1897), William McKinley (1897-1901),and Theodore Roosevelt (1901-1909).Source usflag.orgPLEASE REVIEW OUR GENERAL AUCTION POLICIESShipping:The purchaser will be responsible for shipping costs which will be added to the final bid.
