** FABULOUS ** c1880-VICTORIAN 14K ROLLED ROSE GOLD REPOUSSE RING This a GORGEOUS Antique Victorian 14K Rolled Rose Gold Repousse ring...,,it has a raised oval cartouche engraved and the repousse carvings that are deep and this is STUNNING ! This is a nice sized ring and would suit a man or a woman. It is SOLID NOT HOLLOW and weighs approx 5 grams. A GORGEOUS ANTIQUE ROSE GOLD. THAT DEEP PINK ROSE GOLD SO HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER ! Please note any dark areas appearing on the gold are simply reflection only.. the photos were taken in full sunlight to give a true indication of its condition, but they came out very pale and brassy looking, the best color match is the photo that shows the back of the ring as it is a pretty PINK ROSE GOLD. HISTORY I was advised this is Circa 1880 and it is from a British Estate ...I just love these REPOUSSE settings ....which is so ornate ! It is not stamped for gold content but the outer surface tests for a minimum of 14 karat and is rolled gold or gold shell. and it is a rich rose gold color.. Prior to 1907 hallmarks were not required , and often they were not stamped so that they could escape duty. The repousse design is so ornate it just sparkles with every turn... ! DESCRIPTION and SIZING The front measures 5/8" in length and the sides measure 1/2" tapering down to the back the band and measures 1/8" ... and is approx a size 6 1/2 USA or M 1/2 Australian.. It measures just under 11/16" diameter I t is also a nice heavy ring as it is solid not hollow. It looks beautiful on the finger , so elegant...and the ornate REPOUSSE setting flanking the oval cartouche are a fabulous contrast and so eyecatching..... just a lovely heirloom ring that others will be sure to admire..... It is engraved with the a letter in Olde Worlde script that is so ornate I am not sure if its an H and looks like part of the design. It weighs approx 5 grams.. ...and this further adds to its appeal ! These rings are highly sought after , and nowadays have enjoyed a revival for everyday wear The only fault I can see is that it is slightly out of round , and has been resized at the back.. It does need a polish, as has a darkened patina with time, but this would come up beautifully and I can do it for you if required. But apart from that in lovely condition for its vast age. The photos appear very brassy in color, but it was so overcast outside today, and it is a much pinker rose gold than depicted. Please note that while I do try to describe the items to the very best of my ability, all my items are either antique or vintage , so tfore are not brand new.
