This is one of the largest cleavers ever made. Commonly referred to as a splitter it was used in slaughter houses to split large carcases. The length overall is just shy of 43 inchesThe blade alone is 20 1/4 inches long and about 7 inches high at the tip.It is 3/8 inch thick where the blade becomes the handle. The blade is marked FOSTER BROS TRADE <-----<<<<<<- MARK 20I'm 6' 4" tall and, standing with the blade on the floor, the tip of the handle comes to my belt.Forged from a single piece of metal with lashed wood scales, it weighs9 pounds 6 ounces.I've spent some time searching and I've not seen another like this. Thereare very few with the same configuration but none with a 20 inch blade. The condition is good- There is some damage to the lashing and it shows its age. However, the edge is still good and sharp. The blade is straight and true. The fella who sold it to me gave me a cock and bull tale about whales and blubber. I bought it because it was just such a great piece.I only acceptI only ship to the continental United States.
