France is full of wonderful old things including this..... Huge Wooden Rosaryc.1800's Description This Rosary came from the center of France. It is very old. The beads are wooden and the chain is metal each link made by hand.The crucifix is 3.75" (9.5cm) It features mother of pearl circular detail inlaid into the wood on both sides. Each mother of pearl has detail engraved on to it, which look like roman numerals. The Jesus is made from a gold metal.Each hand carved wood bead measures just under 2cm. The spindle type measure 1.5cm long. The black wooden heart has an inscription on it. One side reads 'Souvenir De Notre Dame De Lourdes'The other side 'Marie ??? (the rest is worn)The crucifix has been re strung with a piece of copper wire (see second pic below).One of the beads has been cut into with a saw.The length is long 44.75" (in straight line to the tip of the crucifix).
