HUGE ANTIQUE LEATHER KING JAMES FAMILY BIBLE 1886 NICE! Description Holman's Parallel Edition, The Holy Bible Containing The Authorized and Revised Versions of the Old and New Testaments, Arranged in Parallel Columns. A Complete Concordance. Comprehensive Bible Dictionary, in Which Every Important Scriptural Word is Fully Explained. This is an absolutely gorgeous Bible!! It is lavishly illustrated!! I have not seen so many beautiful illustrations in an antique Bible before! T are numerous engravings and many chromolithographs with gold accents. The cover has gorgeous gold stamped illustrations and metal clasps that work perfectly! T is also a fold-out illustration of Jerusalem that is color tinted. Their Bibles won numerous awards for their illustrations. In 1876, at the United States Centennial Exposition, they won First Premium awarded for elegantly-bound and illustrated Family Bibles. That year they also won at Southern States Exposition, New Orleans, L.A. Two Diplomas for beautifully illustrated and elegantly-bound Family Bibles. In following years, they were given similar awards, and the year before this edition, at World's Industrial and Cotton Centennial Exhibition, New Orleans, First Premium-a gold medal-awarded for beautifully illustrated and elegantly bound Family Bibles and Photograph Albums. This Bible is in excellent condition!! It has not even been restored!! All edges of the Bible are thick gold gilt!! T is minor rubbing at leather spine, otherwise fine with an excellently intact binding!! Other Features: A complete history of each book of the Bible Cities of the Bible, with descriptive scenes and events in Palestine Parables of our Lord Four Thousand questions and answers on the Old and New Testaments... and much more! T is a little bit of writing on pages, providing the family history of this lovely Bible. And a lock of hair and two interesting homemade book markers. "Presented To" page has the name "Mrs. Alera Johnson, By Mr. R Johnson, Minneapolis" all neatly written in ink. T are six names on the "Memoranda" page. All the other pages, "Births" "Deaths" "Marriages" "Holy Matrimony" are all blank. T's even a "Temperance Pledge" page that is blank!! This is an extremely scarce edition by Holman! I could not find any other available! It came from a wealthy estate. It was very well cared for! T is SO much in , and the illustrations are breathtaking!
