You may see a lot of 3 weights for sale, but seldom do you see one this large with such great detailed carving. I purchased this clock over 30 years ago while in Vienna Austria (Wein). Unfortunately, we have no place to display this work of art in our new home. This clock stands almost 5 feet tall (60 inches) and is almost 2 feet (24 inches) wide. The size and carving are very rare. The full columns and marvelous carving are much greater when seen in-person. The clock locks with a small key, which is present. We have tried to do the clock justice with as detailed pictures as possible, but fall short. The movement is an unmarked Austrian three-weight movement in working order. The three weight, or "blind mans clock", allows a person not looking at the clock to determine the time by listening to the type and number of strikes. One gong is used for hours and the other gong is for quarter, half, and three quarter times. Even the backside of the clock behind the weights is carved. I believe the clock to be completely original. The top piece has 2 flowers carved in the center of it that match 2 flowers carved on the very top of the main clock. I believe I paid $1,250.00 in Vienna and spent about $200.00 for shipping it to the United States in the early 1970's. The clock is probably 130 to 150 years old. I had the movement completely serviced about 6 or 7 years ago and it still runs fine. This clock is very heavy and will be packed professionally and fully insured. I estimate the shipping to be at least $175.00 to $200.00. If necessary, any amount above $200.00 I will cover. Unfortunately, I have received damaged clocks and it is quite disheartening to see these great pieces of history damaged. We are selling this gorgeous clock without a reserve and a low starting bid of $500.00. This clock runs, but is not guaranteed to do so after shipping. It is being sold as-is and all sales are final. Please bid early, as this is a great clock. This is a wonderful opportunity to own a great timepiece that will only grow in value. Good luck!! All sales final Insurance a must Payment due at close of auction
