Up for bids is this rare and beautiful huge late 19th century majolica charger/wall plate made by the ceramics factory Villeroy and Boch in Mettlach, Germany. The charger is decorated with a gold color border to the rim edge which frames a blue and gold scale pattern band. The center reserve is decorated with beautiful flowers climbing upward around a garden stick and stretching into the light-blue fond. The back is completely stamped with the V&B Mettlach factory marks, model number and the year mark (97) for 1897. Diameter is 44,3 cms (approx. 17 7/16th inches). Condition is excellent! No cracks, no chips, no repairs! Minimal abrasion of gold in places. Please study all scans! Please ask your questions PRIOR to bidding. Reserve prices will not be disclosed before end of auction.
